Winyo Christian Academy
"Showing God's Love Through Education"

Winyo Christian Academy (WCA), located in Kenya, East Africa, was founded in 1998. WCA provides students with a quality, Christian education by fifteen dedicated, well-trained teachers and six support staff members. WCA now serves over 335 students from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. December 2007 saw the first graduation of WCA eighth graders. These students scored exceptionally high on their secondary education entrance exams, with a 99% pass rate. There is also a renovated church on the premises where the entire community can worship together.

Over 115 orphans attend WCA, and the number is always growing. Some of these children have lost both parents and are living with a well-wisher from the community, and some have lost one parent who can no longer afford their children's basic needs, including education. Many of these parents passed away from curable diseases like malaria and pneumonia. The Winyo Orphan Sponsorship program at Forest Home (formerly known as Africa Now Ministries) provides these orphans with tuition, two meals a day, and two uniforms for only $150 annually. There is no administration fee-100% of the sponsorship goes toward the orphans' educational expenses. Sponsors send their orphans letters quarterly and receive annual updates. Most members at Forest Home sponsor at least one orphan, and community members throughout the local area also sponsor.

Next Right Step
"Assisting Those in Recovery"

Drug and alcohol abuse are a real lethal combination that our communities deal with every day. There are 23 million Americans addicted to alcohol and drugs with devastating consequences not only for the addicts and their families but also the communities they live in. In 2002 the state of Tennessee and concerned citizens established the 21st Drug Court to assist adult non-violent, addicted offenders in rebuilding their lives. Their efforts were a giant step in the right direction, but fell short once the participant left the program and tried to re-enter society. That is the gap Next Right Step (NRS) spans by literally providing the “next right step” for successful re-entry. By providing relationally based assistance, using a whole-person approach, Next Right Step walks alongside a client loving them through the trials of transition.

Forest Home's Tommy Daniel is a long time advocate on behalf of recovering adults. Over the last five years he has worked in Williamson County doing individual and group counseling as well as case management in the field of community corrections. Tommy also has extensive experience as an industry leader in management, marketing, team building, conflict resolution and organizational strategy. Tommy is the founder and executive of Next Right Step.

Graceworks

Graceworks is an ecumenical, nonprofit ministry funded primarily by Williamson County churches, individuals, businesses, civic group and the Graceworks Thrift Store. Our primary focus is to provide physical, emotional, spiritual, material, and referral services to those in need while helping them break the cycle of dependency on government assistance. Not everyone that needs our assistance is receiving governmental help.
